ALERT: Police Investigating Attempted Abduction of Woman in Fairlington

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit is investigating an attempted abduction that occurred on Sunday, May 4, at approximately 6 a.m. in the 3400 block of S. Utah Street. A 30 year-old Arlington woman reported that as she was jogging a white four door sedan pulled to the side of the road and asked her for directions. The suspect grabbed hold of the victim and forcefully pulled her into his vehicle. The victim was able to fight off the attacker and run to her residence.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40’s with a medium build, brown hair and a goatee. He was possibly wearing a white t-shirt at the time of the incident. The suspect fled the scene in the southbound direction of Utah Street.

  • Whenever possible, walk or exercise with a friend or in groups.
  • Always travel in well-lit and well-traveled areas.
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
  • If you choose to wear headphones, make sure you can hear noise. Use only one earbud if possible.
  • Let someone know your direction of travel and always carry a charged cell phone.
  • Call 9-1-1 immediately if you are a victim of a crime or see something suspicious.
