Crystal City Twilighter 5K Race Road Closures

ARLINGTON, VA. – The Arlington County Police Department wants the public to be aware of numerous road closures during the running of the Crystal City Twilighter 5K Race on Saturday evening, July 27, 2013. The road closures and limited access will be between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Please plan accordingly.

In the event of a emergency, dial 911.

The following lane closures will be in effect between 6:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.:

- Northbound lanes of Crystal Drive between 23rd Street and 20th Street

- Southbound lanes of Crystal Drive between 23rd Street and 20th Street

*A single southbound access lane from 20th Street to the parking garage entrance at 2100 Crystal Drive will be provided.

* A single southbound exit lane will be provided at the 2200 Crystal Drive exit with access to 23rd Street.

- Note, there will be parking and limited access restrictions in the horseshoe driveway at 2121 Crystal Drive starting at noon.

The following lane closures will be in effect between 8:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.:

- All lanes of Crystal Drive between Route 1 and 23rd Street

- Northbound lanes of Crystal Drive between 20th Street and 15th Street

- One southbound lane of Crystal Drive between 20th Street and 15th Street. Western-most southbound lane between 15th and 20th Streets to remain open to provide parking garage access.

- Northbound lanes of Potomac Avenue between Crystal Drive and the Potomac Yard movie theater.

One southbound lane of Potomac Avenue between 33rd Street and the Potomac Yard movie theater. Western-most southbound lane to remain open to provide parking garage access and circulation.

- 33rd Street between Potomac Avenue and Crystal Drive

The following lane closures will be in effect between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.:

- Horseshoe driveway at 2345 Crystal Drive – access to the horseshoe driveway at 2345 Crystal Drive will be accessible until approximately 8:30 p.m. and is scheduled to reopen by 9:00 p.m. at the latest.

Impacted Garage Facilities

Crystal Place Apartments and Crystal Park Condominiums (1801 and 1805 Crystal Drive): Access restrictions will be in place for the garage and driveway entrances/exits to this facility for the duration of the race.  Please plan to utilize the rear access alley route to enter or leave your building. Onsite Arlington County Police Department officers will also allow access across the race route at the designated locations when deemed safe during the closure. Crystal City Shops management will also allow residents to park in the garage across the street at 1750 or 2100 Crystal Drive.

Water Park Towers (1501 and 1505 Crystal Drive): Access to garage facilities will not be impacted during the race. Please plan accordingly and provide notification to your guests. Regional road closures, however, may affect how you get to/from this facility.

Gateway Condominiums and Waterford House (1200 and 1300 Crystal Drive and 200 12th Street): Access to garage facilities will not be impacted during the race. Please plan accordingly and provide notification to your guests. Regional road closures, however, may affect how you get to/from this facility.

Crowne Plaza Hotel: Access to garage facilities will not be impacted during the race. Please plan accordingly and provide notification to your guests. Regional road closures, however, may affect how you get to/from this facility.

Crystal Park 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 (2011, 2121, 2231, 2345, and 2451 Crystal Drive): Employees, tenants, and visitors parking in the garage facilities of the Crystal Park buildings will be impacted by this road closure. Please note that the garage entrance at 2011 Crystal Drive will be closed for the duration of the event. Please plan accordingly by scheduling to leave the facility before or after the scheduled closures, or via alternate exits at 23rd Street or the rear access alley.

Note for Ruth’s Chris Steak House – The horseshoe driveway will be accessible from 23rd Street until shortly before the race start (approximately 8:00 p.m.) at which point access will be closed until approximately 8:30 p.m. when the last set of runners pass through the driveway. Any runners that have not passed through the driveway will be diverted by ACPD to the sidewalk in order to permit opening of the driveway for valet operations.

Plaza Buildings (2100 & 2200 Crystal Drive and 2001 Jefferson Davis Highway and 2221 S. Clark Street and 220 Twentieth Street): These garage facilities will be accessible from the north via Crystal Drive. One southbound lane is to remain open between 15th  and 20th Streets. Traffic will be stopped by an ACPD post at 20th Street. Vehicles destined for the 2100 and 2200 Crystal Drive garages will be allowed to pass. All other vehicular traffic will be diverted to 20th street. Vehicles must exit the garage from 2200 Crystal Drive entrance/exit. Entry into 2100 and 2200 Crystal Drive will not be permitted from the south.

220 Twentieth Street: The garage entrance on 20th Street will not be affected. The garage entrance along Crystal Drive (2100 Crystal Drive) will also remain open, however, vehicles exiting the garage will be directed to exit at 2200 Crystal Drive to continue south on Crystal Drive.

Gateway 3 & 4 - North (201 12th Street): Access to garages and driveway entrances for these facilities will be maintained. Regional road closures, however, may affect how you get to/from this facility.

Crystal Mall Buildings (1801, 1851, and 1901 S. Bell Street): Access to garages and driveway entrances for these facilities will be maintained. The south bound lanes of Crystal Drive will remain open throughout the course of the event. All employees, tenants, and visitors, however, should be informed of the surrounding closures as they may affect the most direct travel route to this facility.

Crystal Square Buildings (1550 & 1750 Crystal Drive; 251 & 241 18th Street; and 1515 Jefferson Davis Highway): Access to garages and driveway entrances for these facilities will be maintained. The south bound lanes of Crystal Drive will remain open throughout the course of the event. All employees, tenants, and visitors, however, should be informed of the surrounding closures as they may affect the most direct travel route to this facility.

Lenox Club (401 12th Street South): Access will be maintained. Regional road closures, however, may affect how you get to/from this facility.

North Tract Lofts (305 10th Street South): Access will be maintained. Regional road closures, however, may affect how you get to/from this facility.

One & Two Potomac Yard (2777 Crystal Drive): Employees, tenants, and visitors parking in the garage facilities of One & Two Potomac Yard will be impacted by this road closure. Please note that garage entrances and exits along Crystal Drive and Potomac Avenue will be closed for the duration of the event. On-site Arlington County Police Department Officers may allow garage access from the entrance/exit along Potomac Avenue only when deemed safe. Please direct vehicles to enter/exit from this garage access point or to leave/arrive prior to or after the planned road closures.

Concord Luxury Residences (2600 Crystal Drive): The garage entrance along Crystal Drive for the Concord Luxury Residences will not be accessible for the duration of the race. If you need your vehicle during this time period, please plan to exit/enter the garage from the Clark Street exit/entrance. Daily parkers will NOT be able to access the Clark Street exit/entrance and should plan to exit/enter the facility prior to or after the planned road closures.

Marriott Capital View Hotels - Renaissance and Residences Inn (2800 South Potomac Avenue & 2850 South Potomac Avenue): Access restrictions will be in place for garage entrances to this facility for the duration of the race. Vehicles will NOT be able to access the garage facility at the hotel during the closure.

Camden Apartments (3535 S. Ball Street): Access to garages and driveway entrances for this facility will be maintained. The southbound lane of Potomac Avenue will remain open throughout the course of the event.

The Eclipse on Center Park Condominiums (3600 S. Glebe Road): Access to garages and driveway entrances for these facilities will be maintained. The southbound lane of Potomac Avenue will remain open throughout the course of the event.
