Police to Issue 7-Eleven Slurpee Tickets for Good Deeds During Operation Chill

ARLINGTON, VA – School’s out for summer and kids in Arlington County can look forward to their next encounter with officers this summer, thanks to 7-Eleven’s Operation Chill program that rewards positive behavior.

Through Operation Chill, Arlington County Police Department can “ticket” children caught in the act of doing good with free Slurpee beverage coupons. Appropriate offenses might include helping another person, wearing bicycle helmets, participating in positive community activities or picking up trash. Each coupon can be redeemed for a small Slurpee drink at 7-Elevens across Arlington.

“We look forward to participating in Operation Chill each year, as these coupons provide an excellent tool for our officers to encourage responsible behavior within our community,” comments Chief M. Douglas Scott.

Since the program’s inception in 1995, Arlington County officers have distributed tens of thousands of coupons to children. During the summer months of 2013, Police District teams, School Resource Officers, Special Operations and patrol officers will be ticketing good behavior.
