TRAFFIC ALERT: 2012 National Race Against the Odds 5K Race Street Closures

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department will be assisting with a 5K race in the area of Tuckahoe Elementary school on Sunday, November 4, 2012.  Several roads will be closed from approximately 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.

The affected streets are listed below:

  • Williamsburg Boulevard will be closed to eastbound traffic from N. Underwood Street to
  • N. Sycamore Street from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Little Falls Road will be closed from Sycamore Street  to Washington Boulevard from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • N. 26th Street will be closed from N. Sycamore Street to Washington Boulevard from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • N. Underwood Street will be closed from N. 24th Street to Williamsburg Boulevard from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Along the race course, temporary road closures will be necessary as the race moves throughout the neighborhood.  Residents of the affected areas will be escorted through the traffic closures to minimize the impact on the community.  All road closures will be reopened by 10:30 a.m. 

Residents are asked to park vehicles in driveways to reduce the congestion on the affected streets to allow more runners through the neighborhood as quickly as possible which will result in a return to normal conditions.  If there are any questions or concerns regarding the impact to the community, please contact Sergeant John Feden at 703.228.4142.
